Reflections from Elissa about her third book –
An incredible book of hope…

My third book is my most exciting project to date. It is an endearing collection of stories for people of all ages designed to offer comfort and hope to the dying and the bereaved. For each of us, loss is an everyday occurrence whether it is with family, friends, neighbors, acquaintances or peers. This collection will give people hope that life goes on and help instill the simple truth that physical death is not the end, but merely a stop along the way.

Since the early nineties I have carried the vision for this book in my heart. At that time I worked as a RN for Hospice of the North Shore. Probably my greatest asset as a hospice nurse was my faith. Had I not gone through personal tragedy and the loss of my twenty-nine year old cousin, Steffan, whom I lived with for nine years, I would never be able to say with conviction that I know that life goes on. Three weeks after his death, Steffan came to me in a dream/experience. It was a dream like I have never had before or since with intense emotions and colors so vibrant they are indescribable. I saw Steffan healed, whole and happier than I had ever known him in this life. And to my core, I knew he was alive and well.

My faith deepened as a result of this experience and has helped me support hundreds of dying patients and their families through the most difficult times of their lives. In my third book, many individuals are sharing first-hand experiences of their loved ones after they have died. The losses range from as early as miscarriage up to a hundred-and-two years old. The stories are beautiful, tender and uplifting. They are heartwarming tributes and offer hope in the darkest hour of grief. Some of the entries are written by people from different countries and clearly demonstrate the universality of this phenomenon regardless of culture, belief or spiritual practice.

An experience that I initially thought was very rare is actually quite common. Most people have either had an experience of their loved one after they have died or know someone who has. However their experiences are rarely documented or communicated.

This unique collection of stories will help facilitate the sharing of these spiritual experiences on a daily basis. By increasing awareness, this project will help bring about a new level of understanding of life after death. There is much that can be done to alleviate pain, suffering and despair. By minimizing the fear of death, this book offers hope in a time of greatest need.
